Do these discounts hold true throughout the U.S.? Do these discounts also extend to AmeriCorps service members, as AmeriCorps is a federal government program?

Yes, I have the same concern as Pvoorheis.  How does a government retiree get some sort of ID???

  6. Carol says:

Anything for retireed federal government workers?

  7. Pvoorheis says:

I retired the 28th of Feb 2003, after 35+ year with Fed Civil Service. I started as a GS 2 temp employee and retired as a GM 13.  I poured my heart and soul and family into my job.  I gave (donated) literally, 10,000 + hrs of unpaid extra hrs into my work efforts (voluntarily and proudly).  When I retired, the paperwork from OMB said “At this time we are not issuing retirement ID’s to retirees”.  Today is the 22 of Sept 2011, and I have never heard anything further.  I do not tell people that I am a retired dedicated Federal Employee, because, I have no way of proving it……..So how the heck do I get to enjoy all  or any of the free extras/benefits for federal employees?

I believe you can get a retiree badge at most govt agencies like installations and air force bases but call ahead and find out what you normally have to bring like your last sf50.
