President Extends Labor Relations Council Until 2013

The President has extended the Labor Relations Council until 2013 via a recent executive order.

Executive Order 13522 established the National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations.  Section 2(d) of the E.O., provides that the Council will terminate on December 14, 2011.

Now I know a number of you have been concerned as to the void that will occur should the Council no longer be there to present advice and guidance on the implementation of the E.O.  I am glad to announce that there is no longer a cause for alarm.

President Obama issued an Executive Order on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 extending the National Council until September 30, 2013.  You can read the executive order.

Some might argue this a presumptuous move in that inauguration day is Sunday, January 20, 2013.  Of course, extending the Council only to the September 2012 would have been a message as well.

If you find an opinion above, I’m solely responsible for it.
