The White House’s Office of Management and Budget has announced that the president intends to propose a 1% pay increase for federal employees in his 2014 budget proposal.

Federal workers’ pay has been frozen for more than two years, but the federal workforce is currently scheduled to get a 0.5% pay increase this spring. The president’s last budget proposal included a suggested pay increase of 0.5%.

Congress will still have to approve the pay increase for it to become finalized. House Republicans recently offered a proposal to block the 0.5% pay increase set to take effect this year, but to date it has not come to fruition.
