There are numerous vacation destinations that offer discounts to government employees. In fact, if you look around, you can surely save on any vacation plan the world over. Great places to start when planning your vacation are websites like Government Vacation Rewards and Government Employees Travel Opportunities.

Both of these websites feature search engines that filter through the wide variety of available discounts to find the ones that are right for you. Government Vacation Rewards estimates that site members save on average at least $150 on their trips and never pay a booking fee. Join Government Vacation Rewards and browse featured sales such as their Cruise Clearance to see low rates on Carnival Cruises and more.

Government Employees Travel Opportunities lets you peruse a similar assortment of travel options – use their search engine to customize your resort trip or browse their travel package deals. These websites specialize in deals for government employees, so they are the best place to start, but they are also far from the only ways for government employees to find great prices for your next vacation.

The Government and Armed Forces Travel Cooperative is another comprehensive site for your discounted travel plans. This site can help you find discounts on your airfare, rental cars, and hotels, as well as discounted tickets to local attractions. Government employees can claim early admission to SeaWorld Orlando, or book combination packs to SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Aquatica. Interested in visiting Walt Disney World? By booking through the Government Armed Forces Travel Cooperative you can get up to two free days when you choose Magic Your Way tickets. Orlando is just one of dozens of travel destinations you can find discounts for through the Government and Armed Forces Travel Cooperative. Other destinations include New York City, Maui, Aspen, New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Whistler, British Columbia.

FedTravel.com can help you get to any travel destination. Like some of the other search engine based sites, FedTravel.com can help you to book flights, rental cars, train tickets, and hotels. Use the FedTravel’s search tools to find discounted rates for travel and accommodations all around the world.

Interested in going on a cruise? CruiseOne is your one stop shop for shore excursions in Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, the Bahamas, and more. You needn’t book your shore excursions through your cruise line when you can save with CruiseOne. Go ashore in Copenhagen and visit castles, or disembark in Rhodes to pay a visit to the Acropolis. CruiseOne will help you book independent shore excursions suited to every level of activity. Enter the code “USGOV” when booking to claim your vacation deal.

Before you can book those shore excursions, you need to find the cruise that’s right for you. Cruise Planners offers cruises all around the world, from the Mediterranean to Australia, and from China to Bermuda, as well as river cruises within the United States, Russia, or China. By booking through Cruise Planners, you can choose from an assortment of different cruise lines, including big names like Carnival, Disney, and Norwegian, as well as smaller lines such as Viking River Cruises, Seabourn, and Hurtigruten. Visit or call FedCruise to cash in on your government employee discount.

One of the most popular travel destinations in the United States is, of course, Disneyland! Disneyland Hotel Anaheim through Portofino Inn & Suites offers special rates for government employees. Use the promotional code “FGOV” when you book to claim these rates. Additionally, if you book your stay through the “Feed A Fed” program, government employees and their families are treated to a complimentary continental breakfast at IHOP each morning. The IHOP is conveniently located just across the street from the Portofino Inn & Suites. Use the promotional code “FEED” to claim this deal.

If you’re going on vacation, you will of course need a place to stay. Holiday Inn offers special rates for government employees at Holiday Inn Club Vacation resorts. Book your stay and present your government ID at check-in to claim your reduced rate. Wyndham Worldwide also offers discounted stays through their Endless Vacation Rentals. Choose between destinations in over 100 countries for your stay with Wyndham. Need more options? Try FedRooms, the government sponsored program for lodgings all around the world. FedRooms can also help you earn points through hotel loyalty programs at places like the Hilton, Best Western, and La Quinta, among others.

Perhaps the most widely available discount for government employees is on car rentals. Car rental services across the board offer a one level upgrade with your government ID and the appropriate coupon. Two companies that offer this upgrade service are Avis and Dollar Express. Alamo additionally offers discounted rates on car rentals for government employees.

All these discounts and more are available to you as a government employee. So pack your bags, grab your government ID, and enjoy a great vacation at the destination that suits your family best!

The avg Fed makes $130,000 so this site should be VERRRY attractive to all

    • gmanqa says:

How much do you make with your Social Security & military retirement? Why do you feed at the government trough if you feel so strongly? The average fed does not earn $130,000. You are a joke.

I can’t afford to buy anything or go on vacation, I am getting 11 days with no pay! Thanks Furloughs! I am glad we are giving syria a couple hundred million and whoever else wants it.

  4. Nena says:

This is great! What email do we provide tmobile..so they see that we are indeed entitled to get this discount?

  5. Clairelan says:

Is it ethical to use all of these sites for personal travel? Some of the hotel government discounts appear to me to be designed for official government travel…

    • The Master says:

Some of the discounts are for offical duty travel. Some are not. It is not ethical to use a discount for official business for personal use. For the discounts that are not official business only, have at them.

    • Richard Jefferson says:

Discounts that are for official use require travel documents to qualify. Generally, 95 % of all government DoD discounts can be used for personnel use. Use them all the time. However, check out some of the online sites like Orbitz, etc. I have found them to sometimes be cheaper. Maybe 40 percent of the time.

As delightful as these savings sound, I’m afraid I’m already booked on the USA Furlough plan. Eleven days with no responsibilities and all expenses paid — by me. No need for traveler’s checks, either; since I won’t be paid while I’m away. And all guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the government..!!! Who could ask for more..? Yep… No doubt about it. Public service is the way of the future.

As people increasingly realize that we are their masters, not their servants, I predict that discounts will grow! The government rules!!!

The Constitution? Hah! Try to start a group stressing the Constitution, and see what IRS does to you!
