Recently Discovered Lerner Emails Refer to Conservatives as ‘—holes’ and ‘Crazies’

A letter sent today by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) to Attorney General Eric Holder reveals that recently discovered emails sent by Lois Lerner referred to conservatives in some unflattering terms.

More news about Lois Lerner’s mysterious emails has surfaced today. A letter sent by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) to Attorney General Eric Holder reveals that recently discovered emails sent by Lois Lerner referred to conservatives in some unflattering terms.

According to Camp’s letter, an email was discovered from November 9, 2012 that Camp said demonstrates Lerner was knowingly targeting conservative groups and therefore he asked Holder to launch a formal investigation into the matter.

Camp stated:

“A newly discovered email exchange from Mss. Lerner’s official IRS email account, dated November 9, 2012, directly demonstrates Ms. Lerner’s deep animus towards conservatives, which she refers to as ‘—holes.’ Lerner further illustrates her disgust with conservatives, even suggesting they will ruin the country. In her email, Lerner states: ‘So we don’t need to worry about alien teRrorists. (sic) It’s our own crazies that will take us down.’ This email shows that Ms. Lerner’s mistreatment of conservative groups was driven by her personal hostility toward conservatives”

Camp’s letter also noted that Lerner was using a personal email to conduct official business. The letter detailed an email that was recently found which describes an incident in which Lerner had a virus on her home computer. The email indicated that Lerner kept work on her home computer, some of which could have been lost. Camp expressed concerns in the letter that this incident could have led to leaking taxpayer information.

Camp went on to tell Holder in his letter that he hopes to see the Justice Department launch an investigation into the Lerner situation. “It is my sincere hope that in light of this new, strong evidence that you immediately being aggressively investigating this matter or appoint a special counsel. Failure to do so will only further erode public trust in not only the IRS, but the (Justice) Department as well,” wrote Camp.
