Nominations Now Being Accepted for Sammies Awards

Nominations are being accepted for the 2015 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals (Sammies) from now until January 16.

The Partnership for Public Service has announced that nominations are now open for the 2015 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals (Sammies). Nominations are being accepted through Friday, January 16 and may be submitted online at servicetoamericamedals.org.

Eight medals, including the coveted Federal Employee of the Year medal, will be awarded to outstanding federal employees. Winners will be selected based on three main criteria: impact of their work on meeting the needs of the nation, on-the-job innovation, and commitment to public service.

Previous Service to America Medals went to federal workers whose achievements range from leading a global vaccination campaign to save the lives of millions of children to recovering nearly a billion dollars in stolen Medicare funds.

Medal categories include Call to Service, Career Achievement, Homeland Security and Law Enforcement, Science and Environment, and other categories related to specific government fields. All career civilian federal employees are eligible.

The ceremony presenting the 2015 Service to America Medals to recipients will be held in Washington, D.C. next fall. Thirty finalists will be recognized at a Capitol Hill awards ceremony during Public Service Recognition Week in the spring.
