Treasury Suspends Reinvestment of G Fund Securities

Treasury Secretary recently sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner notifying him of “extraordinary measures” the government was taking to deal with hitting the debt limit.

The federal government has run up against the debt ceiling which prompted Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew to send a letter to House Speaker John Boehner notifying him that the government was suspending “daily reinvestment of Treasury securities held by the Government Securities Investment Fund of the Federal Employees’ Retirement System Thrift Savings Plan.”

Lew also encouraged Congress to raise the debt limit as soon as possible.
