How Much Did the President and Vice President Pay in Taxes in 2015?

The president and vice president have released their 2015 tax returns.

The Obamas reported reported an adjusted gross income of $436,065, down from $477,383 last year. They paid and paid $81,472 in total tax, an effective rate of 18.7%. They also donated $64,066 of their income to 34 different charities. The Obamas also paid $16,017 in state income tax according to their Illinois return.

The Bidens filed joint federal and combined Delaware income tax returns. They reported adjusted gross income of $392,233, up from $388,844 last year. They paid $91,546 in total federal taxes, for an effective rate of 23.3%. Their Delaware income tax bill was $13,729. Dr. Jill Biden also paid $3,882 in Virginia income tax. The Bidens contributed $6,620 to charity.
