Federal Agencies Closed in DC on Monday, Dec. 21

Those readers who reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area know that it has snowed heavily over the weekend. The storm hitting the Washington region, with blizzard conditions at times, is the greatest December accumulation in more than 70 years.

And, no doubt, many readers are wondering if they will have to go to work on Monday as a result of the snowstorm.

Here is good news for those who may be wondering if they will have to get up and try to go to work on Monday morning. For most readers, the answer is "no." Federal agencies in the Washington, DC area are closed.

  • "a little farming town" Ok, there's your clue. DC is not a little farming town, nor does it have snow removal equipment to deal with the 16" to 23" inches of snow the area received. Northern Montana gets a lot of heavy snow; we don't. On the other hand, Montana doesn't have thousands of cars...

  • Boo Hoo Hoo, bitch bitch bitch. D.C. Feds got a day off and we didn't. Problem is, you're only as good as your local infrastructure. That's LOCAL, not FEDERAL. The metro rail shut down and most roads remained unplowed for two days. Blame Virginia, Maryland, and the local DC govt. No point in...
