Letter Carriers Honored for Heroism
Harrisburg, PA, Keystone Station Letter Carrier Tim Foote was named the 2009 National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Hero of the Year for saving his neighbor's life during a fire. Foote and five other carriers were honored at a reception held recently in Washington, DC.

What's In a Name?
It wasn't until 1967 that selected postal facilities began being named in honor of individuals - usually by Congress and sometimes by the Postal Service. Honored individuals have included important local and national figures, legislators and postal employees who died in the line of duty. Where did the original Post Office names came from? There was some confusion back in the 1800's and mail could not be delivered to some locations accurately without changes.
