Hello,
There is NO Ethics in congress and this proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt.
We have said many times that the US should limit the time in office for congressman.
THis is a case where Rep. John Boehnerman, McDermott, Newt Gingrich should be kicked out for good. They are making unethical deals and getting caught and then they get to sue people for catching them with there hand in the cookie jar.
Shame on the judge for awarding this jerk 60K.
Shame on the USA puplic for letting these unethicial jerks get away with this.

Representative Jim McDermott knew the tapes were illegal and knew the disclosure of those tapes were illegal -He just thought he could get away with it !He broke the law and he did not get the desired political gains he had hoped for .
Since he broke the law , he was forced by his own party leaders to resign from the committee -the fact that he wasn't procescuted for violating the law was because he was a Congressman !
He lost the civil suit because he intentionally and willfully damaged the others.

This is exactly what I mean when I say that bad behavior is it's own reward in Washington. The politicians that are trying to do the right thing will always be punished for doing their jobs, and the others will slide by, sue, and get their buddies to cover for them.
Does one have to be ethical to be on an ethics committe?

Apparently knowing that something is both unethical and illegal and doing it anyway does not prevent one from being on an ethics committee - or from being a congressman to begin with.
