I think that it is a national disgrace for this type of behavior. I believe that the announcement should be overturned and a public retraction issued.

I have several "Bronze Star" award winners in my family from WW II who, although furious with this action, are unable due to age, to vocalize their contempt for those who would act in such a fashion.

Their statements to me note that "they did what they did for their love for their county and their fellow man, and with the help of GOD they would get through the tough times that they faced".

It is such as these, that deserve to have the "HONORS" they have earned continued to be bestowed upon them, even in their passing to a better place.

Shame, shame, shame.

I feel like apologizing to you all about this idiotic decision, but the fact remains that the VA is slowly being taken over by upper management that surely lean to the left. It is an agency like no other in the goverment and this story should tell us all what its priorities are.

We need to decide when being PC isn't PC anymore and its just running scared. A more reasonable approach would be to show the family of the individual being buried some options for this recital and allow them to pick one. That would require having one standard one, and two or three options. If none where chosen the standard one would prevail and there is no option not to have one or PUT in ones own.

My response was from my cynicial and sarcastic side. But your! Yours is practical and the brilliantly obvious one that most of us wouldn't think of. I home some one at the VA sees your suggestion and acts on it!

I agree that individuals should decided on what should and should not be said. Although Veteran's cemetaries are federal property, wasn't the idea that the government would give Veteran's a plot as part of repaying them for their services. Gifts should not come with strings and that is what the VA is trying to do. Would the next step be that no matter where a Veteran is buried they wouldn't be allowed a military burial unless they dropped part of the flag folding ceremony. I think it's a shame that the VA would try to manipulate the flag like this in order to push some personal viewpoint. I also hate to think that the person who wrote this memorandum works for the VA. They sure aren't trying to help the Veterans. They should be fired or transferred to another agency where they can't cause any more problems for Veterans.

It is sad that Christians have kept silent for so long on the issue of including God in our everyday life. I would have never thought the few who don't like God being a part of our culture would ever influence the Veterans Administration to this extent. What about my rights!!! I'm sick of the miniorty taking my rights away!!!!

I think that as a veteran and an American we should be provided what we expect, a decent burial, with full colors and honors which in my opinion includes the flag folding ceremony.

To the Electronics Technician FAA, when has the Government ever upheld any of the promises it's made to our Military/Vererans? It's another classic roll over due to no guts in the face of who ever is in control of the money at the moment.

Religion is a big part of many individuals lives to include currently active military members and veterans. As a veteran the flag folding ceremony is an honor bestowed upon the veteran at the time of burial for his/her service to our country. Religion and the religioius reference during the flag folding is a very important part of the ceremony, meaningful not only to the veteran but also his/her family. The Vet. Administration, whose existance was created to serve the veteran, must remember this - they are exist only because it was recognized by our forefathers that our veterans should not only be cared for but honored and respected. Do not take this away from them.

As long as the silent majority remain silent the minority will continue to step on our rights until we no longer have any. Eventually we will end up right back where we started, meeting in secret to worship. Heaven help us...oops; guess I shouldn’t have said that.
