For the past several decades when Christmas falls on Tuesday the President has given Monday off. It's not politics, just tradition.

Lighten up! Even if it were true (maybe it is) that it's an attempt to soften the blow of not getting an extra 1/2 percent, what makes you ENTITLED to a fat annual raise? Because you show up to work? That's why you get a paycheck in the first place. I suspect you'd b*_*_ no matter what happens. Or maybe you just hate Pres. Bush no matter what he does/doesn't do. For the record: I don't like everything he does, but try walking a couple of miles in his shoes.

Walk a couple of miles in his shoes indeed! He spent millions to get elected by a minority and went into office because of his fathers political machine!! Without his father, who was he?

He has proven himself to be a bumbling incompetent!!! In almost 7 yrs., he still hasn't learned how to pronounce NUCLEAR!!!!! Give me a break!

I agree with Financial Program Analyst. I may not agree with all of Bush's policies, but as a human being he's owed common courtesy, and I thank him for the Christmas present.

Unfortunately not all of us will get the day off, but I will gladly accept the holiday pay. I haven't agreed with many of the things the President has done while in office, but giving federal employees the day off, regardless of whether or not it's been a tradition for decades is beside the point. What amazes me is the negative comments people have posted about getting the extra day off and their reasons for him doing so. There is no wonder we are viewed as a bunch of lazy whiners. Future presidents may see these idiotic comments and wonder why they should do anything to benefit federal employees. Be thankful for what you have, what you are given and if you can't say anything good, please don't say anything at all.

We know he's not running for a third term! He's simply trying to garner votes for a Republican Party whose members are rightfully distancing themselves from him on a number of issues! He ought to be thankful he isn't running against either Clinton!!!

The first year I worked for the Feds., Christmas Day fell on Tuesday. We DID NOT get the full day off on Christmas Eve Monday. So, thank you, Mr. President, and Merry Christmas to you.

I believe that we have been given that day off every time with 1 exception. In 1984 when Mr. Reagan was president I don't believe he made that day a holiday.

The real reason is that every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings.
