As federal employees, we may - and that's a big MAY - get a 3 percent pay raise, but Federal judges we voted a 31 per cent raise? Who's paying their salary?

Someone has already said the obvious - get the bums out of office. Over the past 10 years, we have had the most worthless congresses available. But, whose fault is that? OURS. We vote 'em in and we leave 'em in. Congress is required, by law and the constitution, to work in the best interests of the persons who elected them for the betterment of the nation. If they don't do their job, VOTE THEM OUT.
I, like many others in my field, are going to vote against every incumbent - no matter how long they have been in office. They haven't done their job and we are paying for it. FIRE THEM!!!!!

How about we get to vote on the pay scale for Congress. No budget when they leave, no pay for them or thier staff until they get their work completed.

Democrats greedily desire more control and refuse to support the President on the Iraq War. Basically, they are jockeying for more seats in the house and senate and the ultimate executive chair. Threatening to pack the budget with hitchhickers such as early return of troops, and others is deplorable, when they know the President will veto. Two things need to happen: 1) Reestablish the line item veto--it helped Clinton; and 2) Implement performance-base system for Congress. With their low approval rating, they would have almost no pay due. It's unthinkable to believe them not getting paid would upset their life rich life styles--at last reading over a third are millionaires.
I like one respondent's idea of a third party, rather than the two-party system because Us and them is like water and oil.

The government didn't know how much money it was spending before it started contrating out or if the job was getting done.Numbers and data can easily be accomplished.I was required to do it.Now the government has no idea how many illegal contracts have been paid for or if any work has been done.Contractors file bankruptcy and run with tax dollars, because most contractors are incompetent or forced to let contracts to supervisory friends or military personnel,to avoid paying government employees pay raises and benefits. The last BRAC was to remove as many CSRS personnel as possible. This is to enable them to rewrite federal law and institute a new Personnel System. This will allow them to reduce retiree pay and benefits, because most union personnel will be gone by that time.Nobody that accepts public tax dollars from American Citizens, and lets illegal aliens work wilthout paying taxes gets any vacation until the job is done.Maybe the public should approve their leave, like our bosses did.

What some of you in the field don't seem to understand, our pay raises are VERY important to us - they are tied to a larger bill that is even more important to the rest of the country. I don't like that our raises are subject to political grandstanding, but the process will never change. You can point your finger at either party - the DLA guy in Richmond - so blind to the process - a war supporter - Dem. basher - this isn't about the war (whether you support or are against), the abortion or gay-rights issue. It's about everyone want a piece of the budget - every citizen, special interest group, defense contractor, federal worker- the list goes on. Reps. didn't pass bills last year to give us a higher percentage raise - they shut the government down in the mid-90s - playing he same political games that the Dems. are playing with Bush. Come and work and live in DC - learn how the process really works - see how far your money doesn't go (even with higher wages). Education is key!!!

I wonder how many of you out there know just how many millions of dollars is being poured into the new visitor’s center in Washington DC. The contractor has pushed back the finish date time and time again causing millions more in increases. It's disgusting.
