I am a contractor to the Feds trying to get a job as a true Federal employee. I applied for a position that I am WELL qualified for, filled out all 6 KSA's and apparently made it through to the interview process.
I was called on a Thursday, scheduled an interview for the next morning at 9 AM. It is in the building next to mine.
1 hour after I received the interview time confirmation email, I got another one that the interview needed to be rescheduled...did I have availability on the 6th (3 weeks away). I said I did, but no time was mentioned. I emailed back asking to verify the time.
I have not yet received a response. Should I give up or try to get them to verify a time for the new date? Am I just getting the runaround?

I've never seen a more cliche write-up than this. Extremely unhelpful and vague.

People, people, people! First off, the Federal government is a great place to work; I don't care where you are. And we all have our issues, our challenges, and the occasional butthole we have to work with, or for. As for interviews, there is no one answer and I am one who has been on both sides. They are never a waste of time, if nothing more than to better prepare you for the next one. In my own case, I was not selected and was bummed but, thankfully, the one they chose declined it, and here I am. Getting your foot in the door is a challenge but never give up...it's probably just as hard in the private sector and with not near the stability of working for Uncle Sam. There will always be preselections, good-ole boys, and hiring of wives/husbands but you should focus more on you. Volunteer for the crapping assignments noone wants, get yourself known (for the right reasons), and work hard. Be gracious when you don't get selected because, in due time, they will/it will come back to you!
