How about this... A divorce decree indicates the ex-spouse of a marriage that lasted 7 years will get 50% of the retiree's military pension. Now, if the pensioner combined his reserve and active military retirement with his civilian retirement, what happens? Does the ex-spouse get 50% of whole enchilada? Or a portion based only upon the military part bought in? Hmmm.

I was divorced after 29 years and my ex is to recieve a fixed amount per month with survivor annuity as long as she pays for it herself. She has since remarried at age 52, Does this terminate her rights to a survivor annuity? Does a fixed amount also eliminate any cost of living increases?

My deceased husband's previous wife passed away after he retired. We married 2 years later and he passed away after 1½ years.

When he married me, he called OPM & informed them of a change of address and marital status and asked them to send the required paperwork for a new designation of survivor benefits, and change of address. He filled out the forms and sent them in.

After he passed, my health insurance was terminated and I was told by OPM that he filled out the wrong form and his previous wife was the benefactor for the annuity. I received the life insurance and the last month of his retirement pay.

After speaking to OPM 5 times they informed me that he was to write them a letter, before our 2nd anniversary, attach the marriage cert, and indicate that I was to get the annuity. He was not aware of this. However, he wrote his will and clearly indicated that I was to receive the annuity. I sent in the will, before our 2nd anniversary, and was still denied.

Is there anyway my ex-wife can regain health insurance through me after 20 years of being divorced? She's sick and I want to know if I can help her?

I was married for 13 years to my exhusband who was a civil service employee for the postal service, my divorce degree did not say anything about his retirement but I thought if you were married to someone longer than 10 years you were entitled. It is not that I am greedy or anything, but during the 13 years of marriage, he contributed nothing to the family and home, and left me with his debt, and if I am entitled to anything, I would like to know. Should I take the time to go back to court or am I not entited to anything? Neither of us has remarried.
