He was a very smart man to put the information where an everyday person could find it.

I did the the letter and fully agree. Surprised at first (it was the first time I'd seen something like that), but pleased.

Kudos to you sir.

The cost of the postage decreased the amount in the checks, but at least the ones that were delivered VERIFIED addresses for the recipients. Not every taxpayer or recipient of the stimulus checks has their return e-filed or sent direct deposit. Don't know why everyone would not do that, but its the truth.

With the technology available today, there should have been a better way to accomplish the task without the mass mailing completed by IRS, but there you are.

I can't believe there is anyone in the US who does not know about the stimulus checks, but placing the information cable channels or as public service announcements would have been better than a paper notice. What happened to "going green"????

Use technology - save postage?

All a person has to do to get the rebate is file a tax return. It seems to be that it would have been very cost effective to not send a notice if someone has already filed their tax return. I filed my tax return so I'm going to get the rebate. Therefore, why send me a notice telling me to do something I've already done?

Good for him! He had information published, free of charge, where millions of taxpayer could read it. This is a much better approach than spending the $40 plus million to mail out those letters. Note to Ralph Smith: It is OK to admit that you, like millions of us men, read Abby. What we read really has little, if anything, to do with our manhood.

Regardless of the degrees from the Universities, it was very astute of the director to put this letter in the Dear Abby column. Based on your description of his "sophistocation" it was most likely the suggestion of someone from his staff that he wisely considered a good idea. Sounds like he is a boss who actually listens to his people. Good show!
