The FLRA has been a joke for the past seven years. President Bush has chosen (when he decides to nominate someone at all) generally jackleg, management biased officials who's only goal is to insure the ineffectiveness of the system. His nominees, during the first six years of his presidency, were selected to insure they would adopt,if confirmed, a management agenda and could pass muster before a GOP controlled Senate. Now that Bush faces a Democratic controlled body he can not secure confirmation of similar nominees.
As a result, the FLRA has become the laughing stock of the federal labor relations program and is considered a joke by almost everyone, including management officials who deeply appreciate the built in bias toward its points of view that the FLRA has encouraged.
I believe the FLRA should be abolished and functions in determining units and ULPs should be transferred to the NLRB. Appeals of arbitration awards should be sent to the Courts of Appeal.

This latest Bush nominee went to Jerry Falwell's Liberty College and to Oral Roberts' Regent School of Law. I doubt I'm the only one tired of this pattern the Republicans have established of imposing faith-based law, and stacked-deck Boards, Commissions, and Authorities. It's an insult to those of us who believe in fairness.

Mr. Gilson can't be serious. George Bush's cronies nominate more cronies and he expects them to be confirmed. The FLRA shoule be unbiased and give opinions based on facts and law instead of management baloney. How many of those people nominated and pidgeon holed are like the crony who just quit? The reason we do not have a quorum is the nominees have a radical conservative agenda and will not add value to the system.
Bob, your last article with advice from the union was good. You raised your level of writing there and I commend you for it. This article shows you sunk back to your true level as a management crony. You also appear to be a radical conservative whose facts are true, but tells a lie by leaving out important facts.

It appears that the Chairman, Senator Joe Lieberman is just too busy hanging out with his Senate buddy, John McCain to do his obligated committee work. Do you think he is trying to make the Dems look bad, look like it's his payback time? Why doesn't he get Bush to nominate himself, so Bush could then say "You're doing a good job Joe"

Why do Bush nominee's get to run to Homeland security after they screw up? I told my mother when that department was created that HLS was going to be a dump site for all of his friends and partners and she called me paronoid. If they can't do the job they were hired for, why give them a bigger job that holds more responsibility, and would effect more people? Wouldn't that be like giving a bank robber with cleptomania a job as bank manager and hope he doesn't rob it? Sounds like we're all being set up for something finanacially disasterous or constitutionally scandalous, maybe both.

I am a democrat and I represent management before the FLRA. I think you all need to be reminded that Dale Cabaniss was originally a Bill Clinton apointee. So don't assume all is better if a democrat wins. And for those who think the FLRA should be abolished and everything should go to the Courts. Thanks for the laugh...because that is just a big joke. Courts of appeals are just as politically biased as Administrative bodies. What would you hope to gain.

I understand there are not enough FLRA Judges currently sitting to review cases.
It appears the problem is political and bottom line the president will not appoint a new Judge before he leaves office. So no cases will be reviewed until sometime after January 2009. It that a correct assumption?
I have a case that has been pending since May 2007 so it's 15 months old now. It looks like it will be two years old before I get any resolution.
What is the average length of time for a case accepted for review? Is there any way to find out the status of a Case?
