Your assessment is on point. I have invested in TSP from day one and the simplicity of selection and low cost has provided me with better than average returns. As a Federal employee, I do not want TSP to become a parallel to Wall Street. I am a minority and believe minority and women business should be given opportunity to compete, but I do not want to pay extra to provide them this opportunity. Now this my sound a lot like not in my back yard, but I have been a certified COR for more than thirty years and know a little about competition. Minorities and Women do not need additional help from a well meaning Congress. Leave TSP alone!

I like the second option, it would be nice to have a Roth as an option, I have plans to do so privately and heard about this and wanted to wait due to cost savings, but... if our reps include the third option, I'm outa here.

Comrads - if you think that the recent loss of $15.5M due to frequent traders was a waste of money; wait until you start paying for the follies contained in H.R. 6500. Our fund expenses will take off like the price of gasoline.

You tried to stop "frequent traders" from making money. It's truly folks like you who opened the door by telling congress that we couldn't manage our own funds. We have no one to blame but our own griping selves.

Just when I thought those educated idiots in congress couldn't mess things up any worse, they stumble in to one of the only bright spots in Federal employment and start befouling that.
With their approval rating lower than a snakes belly you think they would be keeping a lower profile.
Run the country, you morons, and leave the little guys alone. Quit marking your territory, the smell is overwhelming. Worse than my neighbors dog, marking everything.

Why is congress wasting tax payer money on trying to foul up a perfectly good retirement plan when they could be wasting it investigating sporting events and steroid use.

I believe that it was Warren Buffett who said that the average investor could simply put money into an index fund and not try to beat the market. That is what the thrift plan does. Congress want to change that to allow managed funds. Those seeking to do this are, of course, doing what they expect will personnel benefit them the most. So, who should be trust? Warren Buffett who is worth billions, or the Congess of the United States which is taking us into debt hundreds of billions of dollars each year.
