Thanks for your help editor fedsmith. My email is sent to my local congressman to stop H.R. 6500. Without you ,I couldn't have done it.

Thanks FedSmith

Thanks for making it easier than ever to take action . In particular are the two pieces of legislation mentioned in this article that I find particularly heinous. Keep up the good work, I enjoy reading your content and continue to be a satisfied subscriber.

One caveat that your article missed -- it is generally NOT OK for most Government employees to contact their Congressmen or Senators regarding pending legislation on Government time, or while you are on Government property, or using Government email or Government phones or Government computers, printers, etc. Go home -- or at least, leave the Government building or post -- and use your own personal computer, phone, paper, copier, envelopes, postage, etc.

Employees with ANY questions re: what's OK and what can get you into trouble should contact their agency's legal office or ethics officer BEFORE doing anything that might get them in hot water. The test is NOT whether you personally consider it to be wrong-- that's not an acceptable defense -- rather, did you use Government time OR property OR facilities OR equipment OR email etc., in any way, to try to influence Congress on a pending matter. Note the emphasis on "OR" -- even if we're off duty, the concerns each still apply.

I have written to both my senetor and representative and asked specific/pointed questions. Their responce more often than not is a canned responce from one of their employees. It seems like they don't really read or understand the question based on the responce.

The TSP is OUR money. Congressional greed-ites need not be permitted to tamper with it. We're having to endure a bear market, which is painful enough. The thought of narcistic congressionals eyeing our retirement fund is beyond the pale. I for one will make known all the names of those individuals to constinuents.

Your pending actions to change TSP for political correctness is now affecting my future retirement plans. The existing TSP is well executed. Will the Congress be willing to bail out the TSP for any paper losses that are incurred by these pending actions like we bail out wall street financial institutions? It is time for Congress to have some common sense and leave things alone as they are.
