Well, there could be any number of valid explantions why being foreign born (at least that seems to be the implication) would not be an impediment since valid citizenship is entirely possibe. Not bothering to get your place and date of birth correct (hey, in Chicago the father of one of the Aldermen was accused of running a document shop) in a documented way shows a certain lack of awareness.

I am glad he didn't get away with this. If he had, it is likely that others would have followed his lead.

Somehow, I would like to believe that all employees who represent the U.S. government are honest, but the real world has gone in a very different direction from what I recall in my youth. It's all too rare for young people to prefer wholesome entertainment, and as long as they deify "bad" people, it is unlikely that they won't try to put something over on someone. I am not looking forward to what my grandchildren will find in the workplace. Thanks for this article!
