I'm curious how this is an official government website given that the president elect is not a government entity? Is this not a federal law violation? Or is this just the first indication of an Obama administration not worrying about pesky things such as the law?

You know, after seeing the many, many (but not all) incredibly asinine posts from DOD employees on this website, it's really no wonder things are where they are in Iraq.

Remind me not to hire you for anything. You obviously don't have the ability to keep your personal opinion out of your work.

I think it's refreshing for an incoming administration to shine some light on their plans and to invite suggestions.

But since the comment was about the "law" and .gov domains -- the GSA administers .gov domains (http://www.gsa.gov/Portal/gsa/ep/contentView.do?contentType=GSA_BASIC&contentId=8185&noc=T).

GSA is responsible for registration, validation, processing, activation, administration, and maintenance of .GOV, second-level domain names. I think they've probably vetted President Elect Obama's use of the .gov domain.

No offense, but who cares? It really doesn't matter, and I think the DOD person was just being a smart ass.

Don't fret HR Navy, I have plenty of work and no interest in working for the brilliant minds at DOD. How's that NSPS working out for you? HR personnel from DOD tend to be rule bound, narrow- minded, and anal retentve.

" HR personnel from DOD tend to be rule bound, narrow- minded, and anal retentve."

People who lump others together into one stereotypical bucket tend to be lacking in basic common sense.

NSPS is working out quite well for me, actually. I guess my supervisors think I'm doing a very good job, thank you.

While this comment is far removed from the article itself, it's interesting to note the HR person being accused of being rule bound, narrow-minded, etc. We all have rules to follow wherever we go and in whatever we do. Just because you don't like them.........they are there for everyone. What's so comical about that allegation is that from most of comments you read on this site, the claim is HR DOESN'T follow the rules. So which is it? Or does that not fit into your sarcasm. HR's responsibility is to interpret rules and guidance and provide that interpretation to employees and managers to ensure compliance. What's so wrong with that? Or should the rules just be followed when it suits your personal preference?

It's a legitimate question.
I have not seen other senator's or prior president-elect's having their own .gov domain (let alone being named some indistinct, ethereal, something such as 'change.gov') IRS rules on 501c's aside. So, Just the Facts, thanks for your answer.

To the rest of the replies:
I was hoping partisan bickering and general ugliness would be over after the election. Apparently winners can still be losers....

Since Obama was a professor of Consititutional Law at Harvard he probably has a grasp of what is allowed. Also, if you read the site you will see it is produced by the Obama-Biden Transition Project, a 501c4 entity. 501c4's are a common type of non-profit organization that can engage in lobbying or political campaigning and are considered social welfare organizations than can be governmental. See the IRS info : http://www.irs.gov/charities/nonprofits/article/0,,id=96178,00.html
The site has an amazing amount of info.

Will this new website keep a log of how many campaign promises aren't kept?

The Agenda Topics have been mysteriously removed from the website. Wonder why?
