How dare you put down this wonderful lady and the CS system!!! SHAME SHAME SHAME on you.
I have nearly 32 years of gov't service completed with my 11 yrs/4 months of active Air Force service for which I paid the POST 56 Military Deposit. At one time I couldn't wait to retire at age 56 or so when I reached my MRA under FERS. Now that I have reached my MRA as of Aug 08 I'm not ready to retire and surely this wonderful lady is not ready to retire. One knows when one is ready to retire.
Perhaps you should go ahead and retire now!!!...

Why doesn't she move out the way so a younger person can get a job and support their family? I retired from the USPS at age 48 on an early retirement and am 'lovin' it'!

It saddens me to hear stories like this. She will probably retire just in time to die. What a waste of 30 years. She had her chance to earn a living and should go so someone else can

"Waste of 30 years'? Maybe from your perspective, but not her's, the community's or the Fed Gov't's!
"She will probably retire just in time to die." Sadly, this part is probably true, because working for the USPS probably was her reason for living!

This is the reason in feel there should be a limitation of service for civilians, because she has hendered anyone one else in that department from receiving any promotions to that position. As well as within 60 years two people could have retired. I'm glad she is in good health to continue work but at this point it is selfish on her part to not allow opportunitiy for anyone else with govt.

This is the type of career that most all of us wish to have. I know I used to be bitter and disgruntled working for USDA, but have found something akin to what this woman has. I will work here until they carry me out on a board. I enjoy my job and like the people I work with, and God willing I will shoot for my 40 years first (29 more to go!) and then see about chasing down Norma's 60!
Kudos to Norma

I can't believe some of these postings. If she's willing & able to do the job, why should she have to get out of the way because of her age? No matter how old you are & what you do, your presence in a job will always mean that someone else won't have a chance to get that job, unless you are truly exceptional, one-of-a-kind. I'm more concerned about some of these jokers who "retire" on the job - and you know who you are. If the PS is satisfied with her performance, what else really matters?
