Are you upset because you haven't found the perfect job? It's wonderful that Norma loves her job. Not finding that anymore in the workforce.

Diversity: The state of being different or diverse. When used to describe people and population groups, diversity encompasses such factors as AGE, gender, race, ethnicity, ability, and religion, as well as education, professional background, and marital and parental status.
Take a look in the mirror and see who is skating now!!

"Another cs skating on the taxpayer dime" Give me a break. Her pay check is probably less than she would get from her pension. At least she is still earning her pay, unlike you sitting at home, collecting your military pension, and posting snide remarks about civil servants on various websites.

....You should be quite ashamed of yourself!!!...!!!...
How dare you put down this wonderful lady and the CS system!!! SHAME SHAME SHAME on you.

I have nearly 32 years of gov't service completed with my 11 yrs/4 months of active Air Force service for which I paid the POST 56 Military Deposit. At one time I couldn't wait to retire at age 56 or so when I reached my MRA under FERS. Now that I have reached my MRA as of Aug 08 I'm not ready to retire and surely this wonderful lady is not ready to retire. One knows when one is ready to retire.

Perhaps you should go ahead and retire now!!!...

If more Managers in DOL have the attitude you have, its no wonder why DOL is so screwed up, so pitifully diverse-less, and remiss in displaying any inclination to do something positive about it. Perhaps you need to find another career where your lack of knowledge about the basics of your position and about the world we live in might be appreciated. But then, you'd have to give up your cushy job and big paycheck.

WTF!!

Why doesn't she move out the way so a younger person can get a job and support their family? I retired from the USPS at age 48 on an early retirement and am 'lovin' it'!

It saddens me to hear stories like this. She will probably retire just in time to die. What a waste of 30 years. She had her chance to earn a living and should go so someone else can

@ DA What do you mean "she had her chance to earn a living" ... she STILL is earning a living!

"Waste of 30 years'? Maybe from your perspective, but not her's, the community's or the Fed Gov't's!

"She will probably retire just in time to die." Sadly, this part is probably true, because working for the USPS probably was her reason for living!

This is the reason in feel there should be a limitation of service for civilians, because she has hendered anyone one else in that department from receiving any promotions to that position. As well as within 60 years two people could have retired. I'm glad she is in good health to continue work but at this point it is selfish on her part to not allow opportunitiy for anyone else with govt.

This is the type of career that most all of us wish to have. I know I used to be bitter and disgruntled working for USDA, but have found something akin to what this woman has. I will work here until they carry me out on a board. I enjoy my job and like the people I work with, and God willing I will shoot for my 40 years first (29 more to go!) and then see about chasing down Norma's 60!

Kudos to Norma

I can't believe some of these postings. If she's willing & able to do the job, why should she have to get out of the way because of her age? No matter how old you are & what you do, your presence in a job will always mean that someone else won't have a chance to get that job, unless you are truly exceptional, one-of-a-kind. I'm more concerned about some of these jokers who "retire" on the job - and you know who you are. If the PS is satisfied with her performance, what else really matters?
