We could use the sick leave proir to retirement, which put's an undo burden on other employees or they could give us a nice fat lump sum for saving the world or at least our sick leave.

I like this idea...

This bill stinks, they should either give us a portion as a lump sum payment (say 25% of the value of it). or reduce our sick leave per year to 6 days.... since thats what most people in the real world get.

This is great news. I have been saving my sick leave since 1990 and using it only when actually sick or to help my wife with the kids being sick. As a FERS employee I have seen the FERS Friday Flu run its course for almost 20 years. I think congress may have cured that disease. I would have never accepted a few pennies on the dollar and took the last year of federal service as FERS Flu if this bill did not come along.

All the years I contributed to my Retirement Fund, the Government used my money. Well now I am reitred with less than 60% income and I want my money back. The Government wasn't matching my contribution it was building a pot on my account of how much it was going to reduce my monthly annuity benefit. I have had to do with less for too long.. I want my money or wait till your elections come up.

In regards to the Roth IRA:

The wording is not clear, does the H.R. allow for Roth IRA contributions to the TSP funds in addition to the standard TSP contributions or is it allowing TSP paycheck contributions to be directed to a Roth IRA fund?

What's up with all the complaining?? How can you blame people for using their sick leave up before they retire in FERS, when the CSRS folks get it added to their years of service?! It's like saying to the blue team: "you must play the game with one hand tied behind your back. But the red team can play with both hands." This just allows people in FERS to NOT break a STUPID rule.... a very unfair one at that!! But, leave it to Uncle Sam to figure out a way to screw some people at the expense of others.
