This subject is targeted and I completely disagree with it. It is just wrong. Willy/Nilly increases in the cost of doing business within the federal government affects all of us (some more than others). The trillian dollar defecit is not enough. We have to reward people now to have more babies.
Oh, I guess in 20 to 25 years they may become taxpayers but until then they will consume more food, air, water, and all other resources. But then they might be a drag on society like so many unemployed are now......
Absurd!

This nation is already in an economic crisis of historic proportions and now we have a movement to provide four weeks of paid parental leave to federal employees! How many private sector companies provide this type of benefit?
Now is not the time for this, but then I would surmise that the sponsor of this bill does not really care as they are looking for "self-justification" to remain in office!!! In my considered opinion this is another "pie in the sky" offering by some self-serving politicians who would sell their "political souls" in order to remain in office and fleece the American taxpayer once again!
I also fear this legislation will eventually create ill-will among federal employees who do not qualify or will ever receive this type of paid leave. It is truly unfortunate that such ill-advised legislation is actually near passage!

Everyone, including myself, would like to have four additional weeks off with pay. Why should only those having children be rewarded. My child bearing years are over, but that does not mean my morale would not improve with more paid time off. Let those who want time off for having and caring for babies save their leave for just that. The same employees who use every minute as soon as they earn it are the ones who will probably benefit the most.

I am annoyed at the way Rep. Maloney says this as as way of supporting "family values". Cranking out 'more kids" in a population that is too large already instead of giving better care and education to the children we have is downright irresponsible! Too bad that our whole system (taxes, welfare, and now this) is aimed at encouraging MORE children instead of focusing on making sure the existing population is helped by health care, better nutrition, stopping family abuse, etc.

Given the state of the economy and remembering who you work for, this should be rejected. Count your chickens....

Come on guys, enough is enough. If a person can't afford to pay their own way through parenthood, then they should postpone having the child until they can. This is something that in most cases in controlable and my taxes and yours shouldn't pay their way.
