It's a joke now; it'll be a joke in the future. How can you hire new employees when you don't have the funds to bring them on in the first place? If new employees are brought on they should be temporary so you can weed out the unqualified friends who are a burden to the mission.

The "weeding out" process should be done during the one to two year probation period. If a manager/supervisor can't figure out that the person they hired either doesn't fit the organization or is not competent in a one to two year period of evaluation, that says something about the manager/supervisor.

What's a joke is when you make the best qualified list and still don't get an interview. That's a joke. I have even made the best qualified list without using my military. Go figure!

I spent the last 8 years as an HR specialist before jumping back into Budget. The personnel systems, personnel staff levels, and existing personnel regulations will not support a huge influx of new employees.
