Finally Doing the Right Thing!

Congress is finally doing the right thing by passing these changes which will make the Federal workforce stronger. It brings FERS equal to CSRS for all employees. Personally, I get to reclaim 7 years of service by redepositing my retirement contribution that I took out when I first left Gov service. No one told me then that if I took that, my time would not count. Well done, finally!

I'm almost positive that FERS was created without the intent to make it equal to CSRS. Since FERS employees may get credit for their unused sick leave, why can't CSRS employees get matching TSP money??? On sick leave, isn't a Federal offense for a Federal employee to use sick leave without being sick or taking care of someone that is sick (i.e. family freindly)?

The most cost efficient way to encourage folks not to abuse sick leave toward the end of a career is to allow the credit for every hour (like CSRS). This is not an issue of morality. Its prudent. Even if Congress enacts the change, Feds are still better off using the leave and taking full salary than merely taking it as credit. Why? Because you get credit for getting paid for it too. WHoever came up with this cost saving idea should be brought up on charges. Probably has cost the Federal Govt 10 times more than the fool claimed it would save. Then why all the fuss about changing it then? Well, people are funny. They are fickle. They will save up and not use the time in order to have it count toward retirement. They don't realize that using it will get them to the same place. But these sort of employees have thousands of hours of leave. They arent the ones who are used to being off on leave

Some in both systems will come to work even when they are ill, and it's because they belong to a team and want to get the work done, not because those in CSRS will see a VERY modest increase in their retirement checks.
Others will cheat the system as far as they can possibly cheat it. They have no respect for their co-workers and kid themselves into believing that others don't know what they are up to.
When the supervisor eventually gets fed up enough try and to do something about it, they grieve or use EEO complaints to dodge any justice.
If you abuse leave, you are a cheater, no matter if you are CSRS or FERS. You are probably a liar, too. Go ahead and resign and do us all a favor.
Then try doing this in the private sector and see how long you stay employed!
DOD DOES NOT DESERVE ANY NEW HIRING FLEXIBILITIES

DOD should not be granted any new personnel flexibilities – in the areas of hiring and assigning personnel and appraising employee performance. With the beginning of NSPS now behind us; DoD can not be trusted with any new authorities. They simply can not handle the responsibility.

Retirement benefits should remain the same as when you accepted your appointment.

The information about FERS was deliberately hidden from new hires before it came out.
So which appointment do I qualify for?

Is there any new information on HR2978 to increase the maximum age to qualify for coverage from age 22 to 25 for federal employees dependents?
