I would like to learn if the bill to allow the counting of unused sick leave also appliet to current retirees. I retired in 2005, with about 6 years in FERS. Switched from CSRS to FERS to gain enough soc. security time credits to get a social security pension. Mr. Ralph Smith, pls answer this.

let's keep stacking up benefits for feds, while the US goes into $12 trillion in debt. Let's save $68 million dollars in "unproductivy" for FERS sick leave credit, which costs $600 million in 10 years...... mmm....mmm...mmm.. Barack Hussien Obama. Sounds good.

CSRS or FERS? In 1987, all the press and training classes told us FERS was best. I stayed with CSRS but only after much thought and using all the calculations of what I thought would happen in the next 24 years until I was retirement eligible. Would I get promoted? Would I get married? Would my potential spouse work until retirement age? military service? Federal service? private industry? social security? CSRS Voluntary Contributions or TSP or IRA? I paid into them all but not the max in any one because I couldn't live with all these deductions plus insurances. Once I retire from CSRS fulltime in 2011, will I work Fed service parttime again? I'm not sure but at least it sounds possible now. There's always decisions to make, no plan is infallible, no future absolutely certain, get informed by FedSmith and friends, do the math, never stop learning, stay involved, take your chances, and hope for the best. 18 months and counting then I'll have finally earned my golden handcuffs annuity.

I have a question about this artricle, I was told one of the changes Congress is reviewing may allow me to claim my Temp service (1/10/92 to 1/21/95) towards my FERS retirement.
I didn't see this issue addressed in this article. So, is there any truth to this subject?

Why do we have to wait until 2012 to be converted back to GS. I can't tell you how much money I will have lost by then.

Supply Tech;
I posted a similar question on another article. And have had no response. I think all of the sick leave confusion is overshadowing this legitamite question.
