It's a surprise only to delusional liberals who think Obama has done anything to create jobs. With 70% of our economy based on consumer spending, those "saved" jobs in state and local governments ain't gonna cut it. Obama has done nothing to create private sector jobs.
Meanwhile, PelosiCare will be voted on tomorrow -- the liberals attempt to take our great country one step further to bankruptcy, and more lost jobs.
I'm glad at least Pelosi slowed down her radical momentum in unread spending bills for a moment of silence yesterday on the House floor for a moment of silence for the Ft. Hood domesitc terrorist attack... killing and wounding true patriots.
I"m hoping for a moment of silence in Nov. 2010 to morn all the blue dogs in Congress future political careers if they vote for Pelosicare on this Saturday.

This is not good. There is much suffering. I know someone out of work who lost the car because of it. I do not know their finances so things might be even worse depending on their mortgage and the ability to pay. The husband is still working.
I still say we are in a depression, but not like the great depression.

Folks: In one sense we have ourselves to blame for election after election voting in greedy politicians who only think of themselves. But on the other hand, we have been tricked into believing their lies and deceit. Come election time, they always tell us what we want to hear. But this is the worst ever. These guys lie outright without flinching. Come on politicians, wake up!! Don't you realize you will also eventually sink with the lot of us? Where is the pride of serving your country and doing what is best for the country? I would love to be president because I would do a better job. I balance my checkbook every month. I don't lie/cheat/make backroom deals. I pay taxes. I love my country. I make mistakes too, but....We need accountability at all levels; let's start with term limits. If you, as a senator, cannot get your good ideas for this nation set in motion within a 12 year period, let some new blood come in. Career politicians only worry about their next election. Out with them!

Enough said--take action and speak up against these liberal lunatics that are destroying this great nation and selling us to the Chinese and Japanese who are buying our debt and will demand payment--probably a few states as collateral. It is not too late to remove these loons in midterm and 2012. They are trashing our constitution; taking your freedoms, spending us into oblivion, without regard to our children--this is immoral behavor. Fiscal conservatives, independents and libertarians, join forces to oust these folks--things will not get better. Obama views himself as Roosevelt 30's and his Second Bill of Rights giving entitlements to all and taking private wealth--David Sunstein--one of OB's advisors states that liberty and private wealth do not go hand and hand--who are these people? They will stop at nothing to destroy the middle class. Get into action now and work locally on political action committees. Bravo Dod Analysts..the majority are with you and we WILL prevail.

The depression started during the Bush era. obama is trying to fix the extreme damage caused by Bush and his cronies. I guess the damage is worse than anyone thought.
It has been said many times that unemployment continues to rise even when the downturn has stopped. I cannot say the down turn has stopped, but I can say that unemployment is expected to go up.
An economic stimulus takes time to work. The radical right rides Obama because they did not see instant gratidfication. Sorry, economics does not work like that. It takes time. See a professional economist for details.
Finally, Bush took 8 years to screw up the economy. It cannot be corrected in 8 or 9 months.

I thought Hussein said that unemployment would not go above 8% if we passed his stimulus bill? Oh well just another empty promise from an empty suit.

I agree with you. problem is that the radical left considers anyone right of center to be radical right. The radical right considers anyone left of center to be radical left. How is that solved?

It started when the banking industry made loans for housing that went bad. How many of these were undocumented loans? How many of these were loans that depended on housing going up in price? Where was the government supervision? Bush's policy was to stay out of it.
Let us not forget the idiotic transactions such aqs derivatives and other manipulations that caused things to fall apart.
This all happened big time during Bush's reign. Bush has a heavy responsibility. Don't bother blaming the Dems.
The radical right loves to blame obama for not turning around a Bush depression in less than a year. The radical right wants to deprive those who cannot get medical insurance health care through insurance. The radical right can take the blame.

And for those that think the Stimulus is working, news reports say that it sure has created many more jobs for wind energy in China than the USA.

Unemployment will continue, small businesses will continue to close their doors, and big business will continue to gain in productivity thereby reducing the number of people needed to produce the limited goods that will be needed. Look to the west where less food is being grown due to water issues, look to the midwest where new laws regulating beef production is starting to be implemented. Nothing this administration has done will help bring more economic growth, and now the congress has passed health care reform. If it makes it past the senate, we'll see the same cost measures implemented as back in the 70's and 80's when the hospitals attempted to balance their budgets by getting rid of RN's and staff with LPN's/Aids. We're in for a bumpy ride and I doubt we have anyone with the will to change the direction we're in.
