How is it that the newly hired appointed "czars" are getting 6 figure incomes and yet there is no money for the retirees who apparently "earned" their positioning for a COLA. Some thing is haywire here.

CAVUTO: So, you are saying that the White House ahead of time massaged these numbers?
WEINER: I am saying that something is not on the level here. You should not have...
CAVUTO: Well, then you're saying that the president is not being...
(CROSSTALK)
WEINER: Well, I don't know. Either that, or the actuaries are tipping their hand and saying, you know what? We're going to say zero, regardless of what the stats are in October.
We don't know. This doesn't happen, by law, until October and then it's for January and it's one year at a time.
(snip)
The president included in his budget a very suspicious line that said an assumption that there would be no inflation adjustments for two years. Well, they are allowed to try to predict as best they can, but the actuaries get to decide in October of each year what they're going to get in January the following year — one year at a time.
COLA'S FOR 2010 and beyond.

How convienient your disrespect placing us as retired federal workers. Your treating us just like military veterans with shrinking budgets and increasing costs on fixed wages. I hope the lot of you in control will understand why you don't have jobs in 2012 because of your disrespect to people who held high esteem and dedication to the department of defense.
I for one tried to get rehired after you told me i could come back to the rolls of federal employment. Our Chief in charge saw to it that wasn't going to happen. He can spend money that we don't have, put our kids, their kids and their kids into hock for 60 years or more and turn his back on people who put him in office.
You should be ashamed of yourselves. Hope you got a good story when you meet your maker.

Why then did Congress order themselves raises but it wasn't justified for retired federal employees?

Golly gee whiz!!! Your article mentioned that there are some retirees who are just now finding out retirees are not going to get a COLA. These must also be the same folks who think that the messiah president is going to do all that hopey-changey stuff we can believe in that was promised last year if we just vote for OBAMA. Surprise it ain't going to happen and neither is all the other stuff he lied about. Also we all better get ready for paying for this wonderful medical changes we and our grand kids will be paying for. Oh yes change we can believe in well some of us tried to tell you this would be the worst President ever, hate to say it but looks like we were right.

Obama is off to a slow start, because he had to start out deep in the Republican muck. He inherited a horrible mess that began when Republicans were in control and giving the country away with HUGE tax breaks for the FILTHY RICH and building up horrible deficits.
Get a life. Obama is here to stay, and as the economy improves America will eventually get over BUSH. It's just a shame they can't put Bush in jail.

I don't understand why some people read and don't comprehend anything. We are not getting raise based on the consumer Price Index. Cola raises are determined by the Consumer Price index. President Obama has nothing to do with either receving or not receiving a raise. This economic became bad during Bush President administration and President Obama is working hard to bring it back up. As a matter of fact the economic has started to rebound. I don't go crazy because I am not getting a raise. Just manage the amount you are receiving and stop spending unnecessary.

I retired on May 31, 2009. One of the biggest reasons was to get away from NSPS as my supervisor planned to deny me a pay increase for the entire year.
So why shouldn't fed employees who retired in 2009 get some portion of the 2% raise? I worked 5 months so I should get 2%/12-7 months as a raise. Please explain this issue so that all of us that retired over the course of 2009 year are not getting no increase at all. Thank you.
