Negotiations Starting on 2011 Pay Raise: How About 1.4%?

Pay Parity????

There won't be any "pay parity" until the law that George Bush senior signed in the early 1990's is OBEYED fully. The true PARITY is between a CS worker and private industry.

The "pay parity" based on military is used as an excuse for disobedience to the true catch-up with private industry law.

The other DOL diversity manager is an impostor!!

I've been saying for months that we were heading back to the Clinton years of 2% raises or less. 1.4% for the military is a slap in the face, but typical coming from someone who hates our men and women in uniform. What will the union folks like Colleen Kelley say? To all you folks who look to the unions for guidance...well you're nothing more than sheep. BAAAAA

Ahhh, change we can believe in. Ever hear the saying, "be careful what you ask for?" If you voted for this guy then I hope you're happy. If you had enough sense to steer clear of this left wing radical all I can say is there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Wow. Two diversity managers. Which is which? How do we distinguish except for what they write. That is censorship and cannot be tolerated unless it is untruthful. I suggest the good doversity manager, if that exists take a new header.
The union cannot do much abou the pay raise except lobby. Instead of blaming the union, blame George Bush for the mess he put this country in. Sorry Secretary IRS. I am still waiting for evidence that Bush railed against the bad loans on a timely basis. Until you provide the evidence, there is no evidence he did so. The depression was a result of his policies. Obbama has to correct George Bush's blunders.

Worker Govt:
You are so correct. The union silence is deafening!! If this was Bush & the republicans, they (unions) would be almost in a riot situation with noise & protest. They have become docile & mute, with the Obama administration. This is lopsided & inconsistent representation. I am a union member & in all fairness, I se the hypocracy & double standard. Of course, there will be some union "true believer" tell me I am wrong. How do they know that I am wrong? Because their union told them so? Because Obama told them so? The recently defeated & vanquished NSPS is being re-incarnated right this moment! Again, no union noise!! This lack of independent, & skeptical thinking, will be their down fall under the democrats. The federal unions & federal workers will get shafted for at least the next 3 years & then they will wonder what happened. Or even worse, they will blame the GOP...or another "bogey man".

Fed Peasant,
How do you know the union is not working behind the scenes to get the raise increased. I have heard they are. Perhaps you should listen to what some of the congress people are saying. They are very affected by the union.
Remember, the union can lobby. They do that. Congress changes the law.
I do agree with you that I am not totally happy with the union. it is much better than no union.

I don't think the 1.4% pay raise should come as much surprise. There was an obvious reason the Obama adminisration didn't push for pay parity in 2010 but stated they would in future years. I am also not optimistic about any plans for pay reform by the Obama administration for federal employees.

I agree, the Obama Administration promised the unions it would support pay parity in 2011 because they knew they were shooting for less than 2% for the military. 1.4% is terrible, but I suspect Congress will attempt to boost it to 1.9 or 2.4 just to appease the unions. What will be more disgusting will be the union response. They will respond, but it will be a half-hearted response. They're in bed with this administration there's no debating that. Bottom line, this is the Clinton years all over again in terms of federal pay raises. 2012 and 2013 will be no better.

The military is the only branch of the fed govt that continues to have trouble attracting and retaining people, especially after barak disastrous change in the rules of engagement and the ensuing casualties. If the govt feels that 1.4% is sufficient for the military than a cut of at least 5% in CS income would be warranted.
The sheer folly of thinking that the military and CS can ever be on parity is absurd. Coupled with CS earning twice what the taxpayer earns is even more of a reason to cut CS pay and benefits

Diversity Mgr DOL, I feel really sorry for you, you must have been passed over and over again for promotion to be so down on government employees. Most, not all, government employees are hard working honest people to use this group of people, once again, as the scape goat for the governments ills is incomprehensible. It’s the congress and senate that are watching this country spiral down with only the thought of themselves. This is where cuts need to be made, this group of government employees, and their yes-men, need to be limited to what their benefits and raises can be and we the people need to be able to set them by voting on them. We need to go in and clean house and vote them all out. it’s time we took our country back by what-ever means necessary.

It was probably taken down because there was confusion over who was diversity manager DOL. I had it done to me once and I do not like it because what was written did not reflect my position. However, you are not clear of blame. If you are not a civil servant, then your title should not reflect a civil servant title. Otherwise you have no credibility, which you do not.
We do not earn twice as much as the private industry when jobs are compared. Your cite is senseless because it does not compare job to job in the same locality. It just takes two stats, whjich mean nothing, and presents that.
perhaps, since you like to give back other people's money, you ought to take a 10% benefits cut each year and pay taxes on your health benefits. That would show some credibility on your part.

dear worker, the numbers I use are the only ones available. OPM and the zoo representative mail out annual employment surveys they ignore 90% of the businesses and base their findings on an unscientific reply.
So if you have a problem with the data then blame your fellow CS, you know the ones who have jobs for life and no accountability

Anyone who thinks that "CS" has jobs for life with no accountability does not read this web site. Hardly a day goes ny where there is a story on someone getting fired.

The 2010 pay increase of 1.77% netted a whopping $10.35 to my check after the Blue Cross premium increase. The insurance increase for 2011 will likely negate any possible increase that a 1.4% increase would create.

In 2011, after the federal tax formula change and all the benefits going up, I got a minus $2.10 in my check. At least the raise should do what it says, a "Cost of Living adjustment".
