Well, I'll raise my personally-owned cup of coffee, made in my personally-owned Melita ($20.00, on sale at Boscovs) to the purchase of the $200.00 GSA contract coffee urns, the $600.00 microwaves, and the $2300.00 refrigerators that will be sold to the government as a result of this ruling. It's my tax money, and it's being wasted more and more every day. When will we hear the ruling on the exercise room equipment, and the pool?

Hey, what about that recliner rocker for when one needs to chill out! Seriously, why couldn't we shop for these as we would for our homes. What's wrong with discount stores like Costco, etc. Or something radical like donating a few bucks and buying our own. I continue to dream.

This is nothing new with the Border Patrol Division of CBP! Take a tour of any new USBP station! You will find everything from Refrigerators, recliners, sofa's, televisions, DVD players and microwaves. Oh, and I forgot, a complete exercise room with equipment! This is no dream - these break rooms and exercise rooms and luxury's already exist. Yup - Your hard earned tax funds hard at work!

I just came out of private industry where we had a nice weight room and kitchen. They even bought the coffe for us! Sure, we need to purchase items at a reasonable price, but it's not something other companies aren't doing.

Excellent way to accommodate those employees with the need the have their medication(s) refrigerated at all times.

I heartily agree. Food safety and efficiency are other conerns in most work environments. My facility is able to purchase a Lowe's refrig for around $400 and a microwave for under $100 (at the Canteen no less). It may be much more efficient to buy these things every 5 years or so than have individual refrigerators, microwaves and coffee pots in everyone's office. It saves a lot on running around getting your lunch in as well.

WE are allowed/approved to build/have breakroom facilities in all US Attorney's Offices, but we are not allowed to purchase items/miscellaneous supplies for the facilities ( such as; paper towels, plastic forks/spoons, etc.) even though those items are sold and available through Federal Supplies Schedules/GSA, because they are considered personal items. When we purchase them are for the benefit of the entire office. What do you think and recommends?

Use your personal money like most other federal employees. You are more then fortunate to receive a break room.
Spoons and forks on tax payers dollars? would you like a chase lounger also. Cut me a break.
