Have a goverment job? Do it badly? Have a rotten attitude? Your job will be there forever. Be a good, dependable employee, one small thing and you are gone. The government hires some of the worse people in the world. Just by looking at them, let alone interviewing them, gives you an entire perspective on the kind of employee the govt gets. Can't get rid of them. Oh well. Pack them off to a different area, with a promotion, and more responsibility. Thats the government for you. Rewarded for unacceptable behavior.

Regarding your comments, in some cases, such disposition of government employees exists; however, in all fairness, it is not the case for most. As evidence in my current occupation as ER/LR Specialist, I am very much involved w/ employee & labor relations matters, problems, and issues. In this capacity, I work closely with union and management to resolve problems and to correct employees' inappropriate behavior. I advise mgmt to take appropriate action, including, verbal warnings through removals. I also assist mgmt in working with those employees having performance problems. (Please note, we do not reward employees for unacceptable behavior or for poor performance; employees are removed as circumstances dictate) No doubt some agencies may not do their job to remove offending or nonperforming employees; however, it is not fair to include all agencies not being responsive to take action.

At my agency, some employees do have poor job attitudes but most of them work very hard.
