There are already plenty of choices available in the TSP. In fact, too many for the average Joe who doesn't constantly keep up with market trends and investment stategies.
The Board has spoken - objectively! It is not in the best interest of federal employees to take on a new volatile fund and its associated expenses. And certainly not by the PAC-influenced Congress.

TSP was set up with an independent board specifically to keep politics out of it. If Congress is successful in forcing a REIT on TSP, every other special interest group who lines their pockets will want their industry/business/special interest to have their own separate fund. Of course this is nothing but politics. If it wasn't political, why didn't Congress take the advice of the professionals who advised against it?

Yes. They should add a REIT index.
It will be benificial to have the added diversification. Studies show that a 10% stock allocation to a REIT lowers risk and adds to long term gains.

Why don't we loan our own Government money to help cover our deficit, instead paying China & Japan who now own us? I'm sure there are some legalities against it but we need to take care of the future of our own country.

This article shows why I will not invest in the G fund. I don't want Congress or anyone else messing with my retirement. I will be lucky to be able to retire at all and I need all the dollars I have to make retirement actual retirement where I do not have to work to make ends meet. I have social security also but will be "penalized" if I use it.

'We the people' will never be honestly represented by those we have elected until we limit the amount of time they can serve. I do truly believe most of our elected officials go to Washington with the hopes of making things better for those they serve, but once there more than two terms become entrenced in the political system and are corrupted. We should seek to have all senators and representatives limited to serving two terms, just as we limit the president to two terms. Career politicians do not serve the 'peoples' interests. They are too busy being bought off by the lobbyists, too busy worrying about voting themselves another raise, or worrying about their own pockets being lined with cash. I also would like to see an end to the lobbyists and their contributions (bribery) to campaigns by limiting the amount of money that is allowed to be spent on election campaigns. Possibly having a set amount in a fund that is equally distributed to all who are running for the offices.

Include ETF's and or stocks or mutual funds into our TSP retirement investment opportunities package. And let me margin 30% of my account into put options so I can atttempt to retain my account balance instead of retreating to the G Fund when the TSP Indexes' trends are bearish or for example to have the opportunity to earn additional profits when the TSP Indexes are off a minor low using call options.
