In this era of not taking responsibility for one's own mistakes, I am glad to see that MSPB and the US District Court held Mr Banks accountable. I hope the postal union did not support this jerk.

Kudos to the USPS and the Postal Inspection Service for prosecuting and then firing this scam artist. If more Federal agencies were as conscientious in going after worker's comp fraud, we'd see the astronomical costs associated with this program drop significantly. But, you've got to love it. This jerk is convicted of a felony and then has the audacity to appeal his removal to the Board and the Fed Circuit (once again, the taxpayers get taken for a ride). I wonder if he employed the always popular "don't believe your lyin' eyes" defense. At least justice prevailed.

Unfortunately, there are probably lots more of these cases still out there waiting to be found. It was only through this guy's ignorance that his case was discovered. And then he tries to use his 17 years of service with no discipline as a reason for non-removal..?? Gimmee a break...!!

If I'm not mistaken I think this kind of investigative work is no longer in the hands of the Inspection Service but has been relegated to the OIG of the USPS, so it may be quite some time before there is any significant reduction in fraudulent claims like this. And I'd be very surprised if his Union didn't go to the mat with him on his appeals.

I wish I knew where some of these people lived who committ frauds in the Postal Service. I will soon be retired and have time to go after them with my camera. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Acts of this nature have punishment - fraud is fraud and should have consequences. Too bad using false Social Security Numbers does not wake up our leaders to take action against those that would falsifiy documents in this country.

I am so happy that someone is now paying attention to this program. There is so much fraud going on, it is costing the government millions of dollars and no one seems to care. I was the Injury Compensation Program Administrator (ICPA) for 7 years and worked the program viogriously every day; however, in my opinion we got not support from anyone on questionable claims no matter how thoroughly we controverted them. Keep up the good work. This is just the tip of the ice berg!!!
