The American public will never see reductions in spending and I think we all know this... unless, of course, we start over from scratch. That isn't likely to happen either because a nation that would put a master magician/socialist in the highest office in the land doesn't really care. Right now and forever more the attitude will be "I got mine grandchild! Too bad you and your great granchildren will have to pay for it long after I'm gone!"

This isn't everybody's attitude. Personally I have no grandchildren (my kids aren't married as of yet), so I never say anything like that.

I didn't know Obama could do magic tricks?! Can he do the one where you pick a card, put it back in the deck, and he correctly chooses your card? That's my favorite.

That's the sad truth, that we make awful decisions today on the backs of those that come after us. We want more than we need and ask others to pay for it.

Thank you George Bush for putting Obama in the position where he must do massive spending in order to get us out of the economic mess you put us in.

worker, are we in a hard economic situation? Yes we are. That being said, your accusation that it's all Bush's fault means nothing unless you can back it up with something concrete.

I have been a federal employee for over 24 years. They have consistently used this tactic to show a reduction in personel too.
When some one quits or retires management will hold the position for a later date when they need to show a reduction in people and then turn in several slots that have been vacant for sometimes many months.
It is the way they have always done business.
It is like making sure that you spend all of the money that you are allocated for your group so that you will get the same or more money for the next year.

Every year if you dont spend all the money that you are given, you are penalized the next year. Thats right, punished for being fiscally sound. To avoid that we have a rush of "end of year" money that has to be spent quickly.

1) I saved $27,900 by not buying FORD FUSION, fully loaded today.

2) Instead of buying sandwich bread today, I will save the $1.29 for the price of the loaf, by buying the bread tomorrow.

3) By choosing "Withholding Tax" I am saving thousands of dollars in State & Federal income tax money I don't owe until April 2010.

4) I've also chosen not to fill my gas tank with gas today...deferring the $20 expenditure for when the gas gauge shows less than half is left.

End result? I'm saving BIG MONEY today:-)

IE Tech DOD, you are absolutely correct about the way things are done. It even worse. That means that OPM and the like, is not receiving an accurate count of employee's that agencies are getting paid for? So agencies (wherever you are) are getting paid for people not there and work not done. If thess were private companies they could be indicted for embezzelment or at least fraud, however in govt it's business as usual. And Tech writer thinks this is saving money. Supv tech: Obama has only been in office 6 mos, and as all president elects before him, he inherited all the problems of the previous administ. No one can fix in 6 mos what it took 8 yrs to create. If you chose to stick your head in the sand and not acknowledge reality then no amount evidence, concrete or otherwise will convince you. You deceive yourself, but I won't let anyone tinkle on my head and say it's just yellow rain, no matter how pretty the rainbow is.
