I wanted to take a moment to say how commendable it was for the NFC staff to have their operations up and running within 3 days. Despite a large percentage of the NFC workforce being without homes, food and clothing, they made sure their clients were paid without interruption and that deserves applause!

What a great group of people!! Mose Lindsey, Alva Timer, Sharon, Chris Machon, Elaine Lacy, Joyce, Mary Gail, Adrian and the many others whose names I don't know. I cannot imagine the personal sacrifice you all went through to make sure we got paid. We prayed for you and your families.

I wish to Second the Motion by my colleague from DOC. Not only did the folks at NFC get up and running again quickly, but they also stayed late at work as Katrina was decending upon them to get the paychecks that were issued immediately after the hurricane without any disruption.
The CFO at USDA should be setting aside a lot of his budget to give his staff in New Orleans many awards.
I had my doubts, but NFC came through!

I was preparing for at least one payday to be postponed, but to my surprise and great appreciation NFC personnel made sure we got our pay on schedule! Thanks I truly appreciate it!

Relocation expenses

On August 30 I summitted a relocation travel voucher for my house hunting trip. I still have not been reimbersed. It's been 10 weeks now and the Fiscal Services Branch is still blaming the delay on Katrina.

I'm glad your pay was okay. I'm still fighting with NFC and USDA about nmissing money taking from my check during that hurricane and they can't find it. What knuckleheads.
i too would like to commend the folks at NFC! they are great!! if any of you have pay issues or issues with travel that can 99%of the time be traced to incompetent people on your home unit. keep up the good work NFC!

You all made me so proud to be a governmnet employees. You made it all happen and proved that many government workers can do it right and do it well. CONGRATULATIONS!

Having previously worked for an agency supported in finance by NFC, their evacuating for a hurricane was nothing new, they've been doing it for decades. Perhaps their preparedness for such disasters ought to be a model for other agencies without such plans for natural catastrophic events. That's not to say everything is done so smoothly, the case in point on travel reimbursement by an FSIS employee. They're not perfect, but regular pay is #1 and they take care of business really, really well. They've also done it all electronicially from entry to payment for a very long time. Something even now NPS hasn't managed to do.

My retirement package was recieved by NFC on 01/04/2006. Today is Feb 10, 2006 I have yet to recieve a word (let alone a nickel) from NFC, OPM, or my former agency. I did fire off a letter to my Senator, "paper does not refuse ink" !
