2011 has been an eventful year for the federal community so far.

The first threat of a government shutdown has come and gone. The fiscal year 2011 budget was passed recently and negotiations are beginning on the fiscal year 2012 fiscal year. The question of whether and how much the debt ceiling should be raised is also looming.

And, as you may have noticed, the federal government is deeply in debt, the debt is increasing daily, and a widely respected rating service has recently stated that the financial outlook for the United States is now “negative.”

Finally, as you may have noticed, there are numerous proposed changes to the federal pay and benefits structure.  We don’t know if any of these proposed changes will pass in the near future.

With the major challenges now facing our country, and with national elections coming in 2012, how would you rate the performance of Congress and President Obama? Who would like to see as the Republican candidate for president in 2012?

We urge all readers to take this survey and send in your anonymous comments.  We will publish the results in the next few days.
