Legislation Would Ban Bonuses for GSA Employees Under Investigation

Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ) today successfully amended the financial services appropriations bill to prohibit funds in the bill from being used to provide a bonus to any General Services Administration (GSA) employee who is under investigation for misconduct.

Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ) today successfully amended the financial services appropriations bill to prohibit funds in the bill from being used to provide a bonus to any General Services Administration (GSA) employee who is under investigation for misconduct.

Congressman Flake offered this amendment in response to findings from an investigation into GSA expenses which revealed that since 2008, GSA has awarded more than $1 million in bonuses to 84 employees under investigation by GSA’s inspector general.

“Taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook for doling out bonuses to government employees under investigation for misconduct,” said Flake.
