Q: I thought the FERS special retirement supplement was terminated in the FY14 Budget – has it been reinstated? I am reviewing my retirement plan crying on my keyboard trying to figure out how to deal with the loss of the FERS Supplement as I know it. I will retire in Dec 2015 with 20 years at age 60. Last I heard this benefit was history. Make my day, is it back?
A: It never has been terminated. There have been threats to eliminate the supplement for new hires, but even those threats have not turned into action.
