President Trump has authorized a 1% pay increase for most federal employees in 2026. It does not include an increase for locality pay, so locality pay rates remain at 2025 levels.
The 2026 GS pay scale incorporates this 2026 federal pay raise with an overall average increase of 1%.
The 2026 federal pay raise includes a special additional raise of 2.8% for some federal employees in law enforcement for a total 3.8% raise. The Office of Personnel Management has implemented this pay raise through special rate pay tables. This additional special raise takes effect on January 11, 2026.
