If you serve or have served in the military or work in select federal agencies, you can gain access to a private web site that offers its registered users discounts on products ranging from apparel and sporting goods to iPhone accessories and tickets to sporting events.
GovX.com is a website whose stated mission is “to create the ultimate, privileged, e-commerce destination for active duty, reserve and retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces and related government agencies.”
Registration for the site is free and individuals are eligible to join GovX.com if they provide one of the following requirements:
- A .mil or .gov email address -or-
- A copy of a military or veteran ID** -or-
- A copy of a DD214**
Eligible individuals can also call and get approved over the phone. The GovX.com web site provides more detailed information on its frequently asked questions page about who is eligible to join.
“GovX was born to serve military, both active duty, reserved and retired military and their respective families,” says Marc Van Buskirk, CEO of GovX.com. “Police, fire, FBI, DEA, Secret Service, all those that protect and serve. They’ll find the most current products of each one of the brands that are on the site and the pricing will be anywhere from 20% to 40% off from the normal retail.”
The site was started by husband and wife team Marc and Shannon Van Buskirk who were also the founders of Oakley’s Military and Government Sales Division. Along with founding partner Tony Farwell, the team formed the site to honor and support those that serve our country.
The products offered on the site are not closeouts or discontinued items; rather, they are current premium items for the home and outdoors.
According to the site, “We wrap our superb customer service around a largely direct-from-manufacture purchasing system using a sophisticated, inter-connected, e-commerce platform connecting us with our shippers, manufacturers and our entire customer support team and manufacturer support team, all to deliver you prompt and select products with exclusive pricing.”
GovX.com also boasts that it expects to soon become the Internet’s leading destination for verified members of the Armed Forces (and related government agencies) to shop for premium tactical and off-duty products.
