We’ve Been Busy!

The FedSmith.com site has undergone some recent changes as we continuously work to bring our users the best and most timely news.

FedSmith has been hard at work recently to make improvements to our site to continue to serve you with the best and most timely news.

What This Means For You

Most of the changes are largely invisible, done mostly behind the scenes to make our lives easier so we can keep our focus on bringing you more news articles you want to read.

However, there is one change you are likely to notice. All traffic on the FedSmith.com website is now served securely, so you will see in your browser’s address bar that the links to pages on our site contain “https” along with a padlock icon denoting a secure connection.

While we do not collect or transmit any sensitive personal information on our site, the clear trend in the web world is a move to the secure transmission layer.

The federal government, for instance, declared in 2015 that all publicly accessible government websites would run over Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS).

In 2014, Google announced that it would tip the scales in favor of websites that use HTTPS.

And we even heard from one of our users that access to public websites from his agency’s internal network was restricted to sites that run on HTTPS. Hopefully any of you that may have run into this are now able to read this article!

We have also recently made some tweaks designed to make the site load faster so you can spend less time waiting on pages to load and more time reading articles or engaging in debates with other users in the comments.

We’ve made a concerted effort to share more information on our Facebook and Twitter pages as well, so be sure to follow us!
