Congress Passes Bill to Pay Federal Employees After Shutdown

Legislation to guarantee back pay to federal employees has now passed both the House and the Senate.

Update: President Trump signed the bill on January 16

Following on the heels of the Senate passing the bill last night, the House has now passed legislation that would guarantee back pay to federal employees after the shutdown is over.

The Government Employee Fair Treatment Act (S. 24) passed easily by a vote of 411-7. It is the same bill that passed the Senate last night and was introduced by Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD).

Cardin tweeted:

President Trump has indicated he would sign the bill into law.
