Most Federal Employees Will Have Back Pay by End of January

Most federal employees should have their full back pay by the end of the month according to OPM.

Most federal employees should have their full back pay by the end of the month according to Office of Personnel Management acting director Margaret Weichert.

Weichert made the announcement Tuesday in a tweet in which she thanked staff members at different agencies for their hard work in getting federal workers their back pay quickly.

OPM recently issued guidance for federal agencies on processing paychecks after the shutdown in an effort to get federal employees paid as quickly as possible.

Federal employees were guaranteed back pay for the recent shutdown thanks to a law passed by Congress that ensures back pay for the latest shutdown as well as future shutdowns.
