OPM Confirms Insurance Benefits Processing Will Continue Despite Coronavirus

OPM is reminding federal agencies of their responsibilities to continue benefits processing despite potential disruptions from the coronavirus.

The Office of Personnel Management issued a memo that reminds federal agencies of their responsibilities to ensure that insurance benefits will continue to be processed despite any disruptions to their normal operations stemming from the COVID-19 coronavirus.

OPM wrote:

Agencies should review and adjust their processes and procedures as necessary to ensure that they can continue timely acceptance of documents and processing of transactions related to the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program and the Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) Program.

OPM added that agencies should inform their employees as needed of how and where to submit benefits forms during disruptions such as the coronavirus.

Federal employees can also access the appropriate benefits forms on OPM’s website at www.opm.gov/forms/.
