OPM’s Retirement Backlog Continues to Grow

The outstanding backlog of retirement claims grew again in February according to new data from the Office of Personnel Management.

The outstanding backlog of retirement claims grew again in February according to new data from the Office of Personnel Management.

The number of backlogged claims grew to 23,554 last month from 21,296 in January (a 10.6% increase). OPM received 12,025 claims in February, down from 17,383 in January. The agency was also able to process more in February than in January (9,767 claims were processed last month).
