Chaffetz Willing to Subpoena to Get Comey Memos

Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) has asked the FBI to provide copies of memos that allegedly were written by former FBI director James Comey documenting conversations he had with President Trump.

Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) has asked the FBI to supply memos allegedly in existence that were written by former director James Comey which describe President Trump asking for an end of the probe into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

In a letter to acting FBI director Andrew McCabe, Chaffetz, who is the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, wrote, “According to the report, ‘Mr. Comey created similar memos – including some that are classified – about every phone call and meeting he had with the president.’ If true, these memoranda raise questions as to whether the President attempted to influence or impede the FBI’s investigation as it relates to Lt. Gen. Flynn.”

Chaffetz went on to ask for all copies of any existing memoranda written by Comey.

Chaffetz also sent out some tweets on the matter, one of which threatened a subpoena if the memoranda are not turned over to the House Committee.

A copy of Chaffetz’s letter is included below.
