Shutdown Discounts Available to DC Federal Employees

Shutdown got you down? These DC area businesses are trying to make it easier for federal employees by offering some discounts and free stuff.

The government shutdown has not been good for federal employees, but the news about it isn’t all bad.

Washington, DC area federal employees can score some discounts from local businesses and restaurants during the shutdown.

Free Burgers on Monday

Z-Burger is giving away free burgers today at its Tenleytown location from 11 AM to 4 PM. All it takes is a government ID.

Drink Specials

Capitol Lounge began offering drink specials at 12:01 AM Saturday that will continue for every day of the shutdown.

Queen Vic, Granville Moore’s, and The Pug are offering a 30% discount:

Carmine’s says it’s happy hour all day while the shutdown is in effect:

Several other bars and restaurants in the DC area are offering specials. The Hill has a list as does ABC News.

Free Basketball Tickets

Federal employees can get two free tickets to the upcoming Georgetown Hoyas vs. DePaul basketball game on January 24 at 8:30 PM. It just takes a valid federal ID.
