NTEU Sues Trump Over Schedule F

NTEU has sued the Trump administration over the Schedule F executive order.

The lawsuits have quickly started flying now that President Trump is back in office. The latest one is from the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) over his executive order reinstating Schedule F.

On January 20, 2025, Trump issued an executive order aimed at reinstating “Schedule F,” a controversial policy first introduced in 2020. It will make it easier to fire affected federal employees for performance reasons.

NTEU, a labor union representing tens of thousands of federal employees, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on January 20 challenging the legality of the executive order. The union argues that the order is unlawful because it exceeds presidential authority, conflicts with congressional intent, and violates existing federal regulations.

The lawsuit seeks to have courts declare the executive order unlawful and prevent it from being enforced.

NTEU sued the Trump administration in 2020 as well when his first executive order establishing Schedule F was issued.
